Here is the brand logo I created for the African American Library Gregory & Friends (AALGF), a museum located in Houston, Texas. AALGF focuses on preserving and celebrating Black history, not just in the Houston area, but throughout the entire state of Texas. The museum is deeply rooted in the local history of Fourth Ward, an area where Black history is etched into the very bricks beneath our feet. AALGF’s mission is to ensure that the sacrifices of our ancestors are never forgotten.
For the logo, I chose an owl to symbolize wisdom and scholarship, which aligns with the library's educational mission. Additionally, the main building features an owl design in its roof, further tying the logo to the physical space. I cleverly incorporated the letter "G" to form the owl's head, and the owl's wings are shaped to represent the letter "F" for Gregory & Friends.
Here’s just the head of the logo, designed for use on posts and business cards.
